about
Returning with their final piece produced during the Covid-19 pandemic, London's post-industrial/noise outfit in violet close this chapter in blistering form.
Revolving around a gritty but frank reflection on mental health management and trying to keep grounded, 'Mantra' is the last single taken from in violet's 'lockdown trilogy', diving head first as it manifests into a full throttle adrenaline burst. Combining chaos with tribalism and formed upon a bed of low res, reconstructed drum samples, 'Mantra' accelerates into a multilayered krautrock epic as propulsive drums, synth-oscillations, scuzz guitars, hypnotic basslines, skronky saxophones and gang vocals are all propelled under founding member/producer Jake Murray's signature wall of noise.
lyrics
First time or maybe the last,
That I fell into a hole,
You told me that this too shall pass,
But I couldn’t get ahold,
There was something I had been keeping in my head,
How many times must you repeat to me again?
Again
Say your Mantra
Worked hard to stay on the path,
‘Cause I want a better world
Gets worse then it all goes bad,
Slipped out of self control
What was that thing I had been keeping in my head?
How many times must you repeat to me again?
Again
