about

Everyone and everything has to change. After a five year absence, ‘Cathedral Thinking’ sees in violet return with a new line-up, a new label and a new music video from VHS Wizard Stephen MacFarlane.

Re-wiring their inner mechanics to approach every aspect of their music as a middle-ground of DJ and band, now more than ever they are accurately described as a lysergic post-techno racket, with mind blowing production and singularly spectacular musicians.

'Cathedral Thinking' embarks on a new era for the band as they shift from a predominately guitar-based sound, to becoming immensely fuelled by synth-heavy dance music and the production considerably more dense and thicker than ever before.

The true essence of in violet's running themes are still however as consistent as ever. Founding member/producer Jake Murray states “The world is lurching towards disaster. While the greatest threat to this planet’s continued stability surges ever closer at alarming rates, we are growing ever more divided. Society is polarised, our discourse is volatile and our time is running out. Will we hold those who lead us accountable, and reach across the aisles to turn a corner in this critical moment of human history? or will our divisions grow and our apathy lead us, blindfolded, to an extinction of our own making?"

lyrics

We don't have opinions anymore
We just have reactions

We don't need excuses anymore
We just need distractions

Pull the tooth
Just tell the truth

Sometimes life feels misleading and untrue
Why must reasons just be assumed?
I feel empty everything is used
Sometimes it feels like pulling teeth to get the truth

It's like pulling out teeth, not that we need 'em
Pulling out teeth, well laugh it up

Born out of a London basement in 2010, in violet marries the experimental with the familiar. Morphing across disassosciative landscapes, prisms and diffractions, the concept is one of momentum and exploration.

With a carousel of contributors & co-writers across all releases, currently performing as a five-piece, in violet continues to push the envelope of just how far one wild idea can go
